In Pakistan "thank you" in Urdu is شکریہ (shukriya). Add بہت (bohat), "very", to make بہت شکریہ (bohat shukriya) for more warmth. It is also called مہربانی (meharbānī).

Close relatives often skip a spoken thanks and show it with a prayer such as جزاک اللہ (jazāk Allāh), "may God reward you". Hearing شکریہ (shukriya) is still always welcome.
