The plain Urdu word for "thanks" in Pakistan is شکریہ (shukriya). In casual speech, especially among younger people in cities, تھینکس (thaiNks) is also common. It is also called مہربانی (meharbānī).

شکریہ (shukriya) is short and works in every setting. مہربانی (meharbānī) also acts as a quick thanks, for example آپ کی مہربانی (āp kī meharbānī), "your kindness".
