To a friend in Tamil you can say போயிட்டு வரேன் (poyiṭṭu varēn), literally "I will go and come back". Another friendly goodbye is அப்புறம் பாக்கலாம் (appuṟam pākkalām), meaning "see you later". It is also called பை (pai).

Tamil speakers usually do not say a final "goodbye". They say they will go and return, which sounds warmer. With close friends the English பை (pai) is also common.
