In Qatar شكرا (shukran) is understood everywhere. Among Qataris you will also hear تسلم (tislam), "may you stay well", to a man and مشكور (mashkūr), "thanked".

تسلم (tislam) is short and friendly and fits a favor between friends. To a woman it becomes تسلمين (tislamīn).
Is it said differently in some regions?
Qatar is a Gulf Arabic setting, so the same blessings as in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are heard, such as الله يعطيك العافية (Allāh yaʿṭīk al-ʿāfya). In Qatar English is also widely used in shops, so thanks is often mixed in.
When do people say it?
A common reply to تسلم (tislam) is الله يسلمك (Allāh yisallimak), "may God keep you safe".
