Hindi has two words for "grandfather". A father's father is दादा (dādā) and a mother's father is नाना (nānā).

Add जी (jī) for respect, as in दादाजी (dādājī) and नानाजी (nānājī). Families also use these as the way to address him directly.
Which one should you use?
English uses one word for both grandfathers, but in Hindi you always say which side of the family he is from.
