Chickpea is حمص (ḥommoṣ) in Lebanese Arabic. The same word also names the dip made from chickpeas.
The dip is usually called حمص بطحينة (ḥommoṣ bi-ṭaḥīne), chickpeas with tahini. Dry chickpeas are cooked in water before use.
