e mrekullueshme
The English phrase "gorgeous" translates to Albanian as e mrekullueshme.
This adjective is used to describe something or someone that is very beautiful.
Meaning: very beautiful (adj)
What does it mean word for word?
The word is derived from the root mrekulli, which means "miracle". Consequently, the term carries the literal sense of being "full of miracles" or "wonderful".
How does it change in a sentence?
The adjective must agree in gender with the noun it describes. Use the masculine form i mrekullueshëm for masculine nouns and the feminine form e mrekullueshme for feminine nouns.
Did you know?
- Because of its connection to 'miracle', the term can be used to describe a highly unexpected or wonderful turn of events, not just physical beauty.
- In Albanian, the word mrekulli can be used to describe a 'miracle' in a sarcastic way when something unexpectedly bad happens, though e mrekullueshme usually remains positive.
- Albanian has several words for 'beautiful', but e mrekullueshme is one of the strongest superlatives, placing the object in a category of wonder rather than just attraction.
