About Wolof

Wolof is the most widely spoken language of Senegal, where most people use it either as their first language or as a second one. It is also spoken in the Gambia and Mauritania. French is Senegal's official language, and Wolof is one of its national languages.

Wolof is written in Latin letters, and in an older tradition in Arabic script, called Wolofal. Greetings are long and important. "How are you?" is nanga def? and thank you is jërëjëf.
