In Pakistan, Eid greetings are given as عید مبارک (Eid mubarak). Politely you can say آپ کو عید مبارک ہو (aap ko Eid mubarak ho).

There is no exact “rest in peace” in Pakistan, but Muslims say اللہ مغفرت فرمائے (Allāh maghfirat farmāe), “may God forgive them”.

In Pakistan, “happy new year” is نیا سال مبارک (naya saal mubarak). With the verb it becomes نیا سال مبارک ہو (naya saal mubarak ho).

In Pakistan “water” in Urdu is پانی (pānī). It is one of the first words a visitor hears when someone is offered a drink.

The Urdu word for cow in Pakistan is گائے (gaay). It is a feminine noun, and the male of the species is بیل (bail), a bull or ox.

The standard Urdu word for “mother” is ماں (māñ). In formal speech Pakistanis say والدہ (vālida), and at home children say امی (ammī).

The everyday Urdu word for garbage is کچرا (kachra), and کوڑا (koora) means the same. Together they form کوڑا کرکٹ (koora karkat), “rubbish and litter”.

In Pakistan “blessing” is usually برکت (barkat) for divine favor and abundance, or نعمت (niʿmat) for a gift from God.

Urdu in Pakistan has separate words for uncles.

In Urdu you say “I love you so much” as مجھے تم سے بہت محبت ہے (mujhe tum se bohat muhabbat hai).
