How to Say "Hello Beautiful, How Are You?" in Italian

ciao bella, come stai?

The English phrase "hello beautiful, how are you?" is translated into Italian as ciao bella, come stai?

ciao bella, come stai? is an informal way to greet a woman or girl you are familiar with.

What does it mean word for word?

The word bella is the feminine singular form of the adjective meaning "beautiful".

The use of ciao and the second-person singular stai makes this phrase strictly informal and suitable only for friends, family or romantic interests.

To address a man instead of a woman, change the feminine adjective bella to the masculine bello to say ciao bello, come stai?

A common natural response to this greeting is Bene, grazie, e tu? (Fine, thanks and you?).

While ciao bella is affectionate, using it with a complete stranger in Italy can often be perceived as overly forward or as a 'catcall' rather than a polite greeting.
The common greeting ciao actually has humble origins, deriving from the Venetian expression s-ciao vostro, which meant 'I am your slave' or 'your humble servant'.
If you say ciao bello to a man, it is often used ironically among close male friends to tease someone who is acting vain or dressing up.

Ciao cara, come stai?
Hello dear, how are you?
Ciao bella, come stai? Ti vedo bene.
Hello beautiful, how are you? You look well.
