The Urdu word for heaven in the religious sense is جنت (jannat), "paradise". The word آسمان (aasman) means the sky and can also mean "the heavens". It is also called بہشت (bihisht).

جنت (jannat) is used in prayers and sayings, and the opposite is جہنم (jahannum), "hell". People also say جنت نصیب ہو (jannat naseeb ho), "may paradise be your lot", for the dead.
