t'es bête
The English phrase "you stupid" can be translated into French as t'es bête.
This is an informal expression used to tell someone that they are acting or being unintelligent. Depending on the context, bête can be used to mean someone is being stupid, silly or foolish.
Which one should you use?
While bête can mean stupid, it is often milder than terms like con or idiot and can be used to mean silly or foolish. Other ways to express this range from the very formal Vous manquez d'intelligence (You lack intelligence) to the more direct Vous êtes stupide (You are stupid), or the more intense informal T'es complètement idiot (You're completely idiotic).
How does it change in a sentence?
In casual spoken French, the pronoun tu and the verb es are frequently contracted into t'es.

- You can use the word bête to describe a situation rather than a person. Saying C'est bête! doesn't mean 'It is stupid', but rather 'That is a shame' or 'How annoying!'
- The word bête shares an ancestor with the English word 'beast', both tracing back to the Latin term for 'animal'.
