The English phrase "ultra instinct" is translated into Japanese as 身勝手の極意 (migatte no gokui).
身勝手の極意 refers to a state of mind and body where a fighter reacts automatically without thinking. This term is the specific name used in the original Japanese version of Dragon Ball Super, whereas the English term "Ultra Instinct" is used for the global franchise.

Did you know?
- The first part of the phrase, 身勝手, is actually a common, negative adjective used to describe someone who is 'selfish' or 'self-centered'.
- While 'Ultra Instinct' sounds like a biological trait, 極意 refers to the 'deepest secrets' or 'inner mysteries' of a martial art school.
