In Hindi respect is सम्मान (sammān). In daily talk people often say इज़्ज़त (izzat), and आदर (ādar) is the formal word.

You say बड़ों का सम्मान करो (baṛon kā sammān karo) for "respect your elders". इज़्ज़त करना (izzat karnā) means to respect someone.
When do people say it?
Respect in Hindi is also shown through speech. Elders and strangers are addressed with आप (āp) and not with तुम or तू.
