In Honduras a turkey is a pavo, the standard Spanish word. The female bird is a pava.
The word pavo is used for the animal and for the meat, as in carne de pavo. Turkey is a typical dish for Christmas dinner in many Honduran homes.

In Mexico the bird is called guajolote, and in Guatemala people say chompipe, so those words sound foreign in Honduras.
