Which one should you use?
The word bonito specifically refers to visual attractiveness. If you wish to imply that something is nice in terms of being pleasant to the senses or temperament, you would use agradable instead.
Is it said differently in some regions?
In Spain, you can use Es majo/a to say something is nice. In some Latin American countries, Está bacán is used to express that something is nice. Additionally, in many Latin American dialects, algo es lindo is a very common alternative to algo es bonito to express that something is nice or pretty.

The adjective bonito must agree in gender with the noun it describes. However, because algo (something) is an indefinite pronoun that is grammatically masculine or neutral, bonito remains in the masculine form in the phrase algo es bonito.
