Which one should you use?
While el refresco no tiene gas is a standard expression, you can also use la soda está sin gas, which means "the soda is without gas".
Did you know?
- The word gas was coined by the Belgian chemist Jan Baptist van Helmont, who may have based it on the Greek word kháos meaning 'chasm' or 'void'.
- While an English speaker might say 'soda', using soda in Spanish can be misleading because it often refers specifically to sparkling water or club soda.
- In some Spanish-speaking countries, the word gaseosa is used instead of refresco, placing the emphasis on the carbonation itself as the drink's defining characteristic.

- No me gusta beber esto porque el refresco no tiene gas.I don't like drinking this because the soda is flat.
