odio la ciencia
/odjo la θjenθja/from spelling rules
In Spanish, odio la ciencia is the way to say "I hate science".
This phrase is used to express a strong dislike for the field of science.
Which one should you use?
While odio la ciencia expresses a strong dislike for the field, the phrase no me gusta la ciencia (I don't like science) is a slightly softer way to express the same sentiment.
Is it said differently in some regions?
In Spain, you may hear the colloquial variation La ciencia no me mola to mean "I'm not into science."
How does it change in a sentence?
The word odio is the first-person singular present indicative form of the verb odiar (to hate). In Spanish, abstract concepts or fields of study like ciencia are typically preceded by a definite article, which is why la is used before ciencia.
