Did you know?
- The character 社 (shè) used in 戏剧社 was originally a term for a shrine dedicated to the god of the soil before it meant a gathering of people.
- While 戏剧社 is the standard term, students often use 话剧社 (huà jù shè) to specify a club for spoken plays and avoid the implication of traditional opera.
- A 戏剧社 in Chinese schools frequently partners with a 舞蹈社 (dance club) because traditional Chinese theater views stylized movement and dance as inseparable from storytelling.
