Which one should you use?
The difference between ¿puedes ayudarme, por favor? and ¿puede ayudarme, por favor? is the level of formality rather than the actual request for help. While the former is informal, the latter is formal.
Is it said differently in some regions?
In Spain, ¿Podrías ayudarme, por favor? is often used in both formal and informal contexts. How does it change in a sentence?
The default form ¿puedes ayudarme, por favor? uses the informal "tú" conjugation and is used with friends, family or people your own age. For someone you do not know or someone to whom you want to show respect, use the formal ¿puede ayudarme, por favor? The phrase por favor (please) is optional and can be omitted if you want to be more direct, though it remains more polite to include it.
