Slovenian, also called Slovene, is the official language of Slovenia and is spoken by minorities in neighbouring Italy and Austria. It is a South Slavic language, related to Croatian and Serbian but distinct from them.
Use vi for a polite "you" with strangers and older people, and ti with friends. The letters č, š and ž sound like the ch in "church", the sh in "shoe" and the s in "measure". Slovenian is one of the few languages that still has a dual, special forms for exactly two people or things, so "we two" and "we three or more" are different words.
