Noongar

About Noongar

Noongar, also spelled Nyungar, is the Aboriginal language of the Noongar people of the south-west of Western Australia, including the area around Perth. Only a small number of people speak it fluently today, but it is taught in some schools and is heard more and more in place names, welcomes to country and public life. Its spelling is not fully standardized, so the same word can be written in several ways.
